Privacy Policy

DealHunter is a small, self-hosted deal-tracking site. We collect the minimum data needed to run accounts, comments, and bot protection — we do not sell data, run third-party ads, or use tracking analytics. Your email address is never shown to other users.

Account creation uses self-hosted authentication (Better Auth). We store your email address, a one-way hash of your password (scrypt — we cannot read it back, and no one at DealHunter can), your chosen display name, and your avatar choice. Sessions are kept in session_token and session_data cookies. We do not send email and there is no password-reset email flow; if you lose access to your account, contact us to create a fresh one.

When you vote on a deal or post a comment, we store that vote or comment, linked to your account. Comments are public on the deal card and are screened by an automated profanity filter that masks offensive words before storage. We keep this data to keep the community feed useful and are happy to delete it on request.

Account creation (sign-up and sign-in) and posting comments are protected by Cloudflare's Turnstile in invisible (managed) mode. When you complete one of these actions, Cloudflare runs a risk-based check that can use signals such as your browser and network characteristics to distinguish humans from automated scripts.

Turnstile does not use persistent cross-site cookies, does not build a user profile, and does not read the contents of what you type. For the full description of what data Cloudflare processes for this service, see the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Policy.

Comments are public, so choose what you share. To have your account and its comments removed, or to ask any other privacy question, message DealHunter through this site. We respond to removal requests promptly.
